Free Gift Tag Maker is a browser-based tool for printing custom gift tags at home. Type recipient names, pick a font, hit print. Perfect for Christmas presents, birthday wrapping, wedding favors, baby shower gifts, teacher appreciation, and Etsy product packaging. Choose rectangular hang-tag style with a punched corner, rounded squares for stickers, or round circles for sealing-wax-style accents. Works on 110lb cardstock, kraft paper, or matte sticker paper. Your data stays in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
The most common gift tag is 2" × 3.5" rectangular with a punched corner. The same size as a business card. The default preset prints 10 of these per US Letter sheet (2 columns × 5 rows). For smaller mini-tags use 1.5" × 2.5", which fits 15 per sheet. Round tags work too, usually 2" or 2.5". Common for sealing-wax-style accents.
Use 110lb (300gsm) cardstock for tags that hang from ribbon. Anything lighter folds and looks cheap. Kraft cardstock gives a rustic farmhouse look that pairs well with twine. For sticker-style tags that adhere directly to packaging, use matte sticker paper. Avoid glossy cardstock unless using a laser printer. Inkjet ink smudges on glossy coated stock.
Use a 1/8" hole punch (3mm), centered about 1/4" from the top edge. For 2" × 3.5" tags, that puts the hole at a balanced visual spot. A standard paper punch is too large and weakens the tag. For batches, an EK Tools 1/8" punch handles cardstock cleanly. Punch before cutting individual tags. It's faster and more consistent.
Bakers twine (red-white striped) is the most versatile and reads as both Christmas and rustic-handmade. Satin ribbon elevates wedding favors. Jute or hemp twine suits kraft tags and farmhouse aesthetics. Cut to about 8" per tag, thread through the punched hole, and tie a simple knot or bow. A 100-foot spool of twine handles roughly 150 tags.
Type your recipient list one name per line, pick the Script font (size around 32-40), and print a full sheet. Eight tags per page means a typical family Christmas list fits on 1-2 sheets. Print on red or kraft cardstock for an instant holiday feel. No design work needed. Punch corners, thread twine, attach to gifts. Twenty tags take about ten minutes start to finish.
Yes. Switch to the Sticker Sheet or Round Labels page and use the same font and color choices for matching product labels. Many Etsy sellers print a hang tag plus a round product seal in the same design language. Save both as PDFs and print on coordinating paper. Kraft for the tag, white matte sticker paper for the seal.
Use sticker paper when you want peel-and-stick labels for boxes, bags, jars, or envelopes. Use cardstock when you want traditional hanging tags with ribbon or twine. Both print from the same layout.
Yes. Leave a little empty space near one corner or the top center, print on cardstock, then use a standard hole punch. Rounded and circle shapes usually leave the cleanest room for ribbon.
Yes. Switch to Text mode and type one recipient name per line. Each line fills the next tag, and Auto-fit keeps longer names from spilling outside the shape.
Yes. The same tags work for favors, welcome bags, dessert boxes, and thank-you gifts. Use a repeated message for a uniform favor tag sheet or one line per guest for personalized tags.
