The most-used sizes are 1" (envelope seals, jar tops on small bottles), 1.5" (candle wicks, lip balm tubes), 2" (mason jar lids, wedding favors, product branding), 2.5" (wide-mouth mason jars, soap labels), and 3" (candle vessels, large jar labels). Standard Avery round labels come pre-die-cut at these sizes. See the next FAQ for matching template numbers.
Quick reference: 1" round = Avery 8293/5293 (24 per sheet); 1.67" round = Avery 22807 (24 per sheet); 2" round = Avery 22805 (12 per sheet); 2.5" round = Avery 22808/22817 (9 per sheet); 3" round = Avery 22830 (6 per sheet). All work on US Letter paper. Generic 30-up small rounds and 12-up 2" rounds from any brand also work.
For most uses, matte white sticker paper gives the cleanest professional finish and absorbs inkjet ink crisply. For waterproof needs (water bottles, candle vessels exposed to wax oil) use glossy vinyl sticker paper. For rustic farmhouse/handmade aesthetic, use kraft sticker paper. Avoid glossy paper on inkjet printers unless specifically rated for inkjet. Non-rated glossy smudges.
Three options. (1) Buy pre-die-cut sheets (Avery or compatible). Easiest, just peel. (2) Print Then Cut. Save or export your artwork, import it into the cutting software, and let that software add registration marks and cut paths. (3) Circle craft punch in 1", 1.5", or 2". Cheap and works for low volumes.
Round labels suit curved surfaces (jar lids, bottle tops, candle vessels) because they don't show seams or peeling corners. They also read as more decorative and high-end, common in Etsy product branding, wedding stationery, and artisan food packaging. Square or rectangular labels suit flat surfaces (envelopes, file folders, box tops) and accommodate longer text more efficiently per square inch.
Pick the 2" round preset (15 per sheet) for most Etsy product sizes. Soap bars, candle vessels, jam jars, lip balms. Upload your logo as a transparent PNG and tile-mode it across all 15 cells for a full sheet of matching labels. Print on matte sticker paper for product seals, glossy vinyl for waterproof items. At 15 per sheet, a single $1 sticker sheet covers 15 products.
Yes. Use clear inkjet or laser label sheets made for your printer type. Keep in mind that normal home printers do not print white ink, so white artwork will appear transparent.
Round labels hold less text than rectangles of the same width. Use short product names, dates, initials, or logos. For ingredients, warnings, or addresses, choose a rectangular label instead.
Yes. One-inch or 1.5-inch round labels work well as envelope seals for weddings, holiday cards, and small business packaging. Use Tile / repeat for a full sheet of the same seal.
No if you use pre-cut round label sheets. If you print on full-sheet sticker paper, a circle punch or cutting machine gives cleaner edges than scissors.
